A-AKG or L-Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate is a chemical compound which is a combination of two substances: L-arginine and glutaric acid.

 Glutaric acid is a product of the citric acid cycle, also known as the Krebs cycle, which is the final step in the metabolism of aerobic organisms, while L-arginine is a protein amino acid that is considered an essential substrate for the production of creatine and nitric oxide (NO). The combination of glutaric acid with arginine creates a compound with a synergistic effect that athletes often use as a pre-workout.
